Recreational Activities in Yorktown
Relax At the Beach: Yorktown Beach is just a short distance, and we are happy to provide beach towels and other supplies for our guests.
Enjoy a Bicycle Ride: You can bike all over Yorktown. Enjoy riding down to the beach, touring the historic area, or pedaling around the battlefields or along the Colonial Parkway. The York River Inn has bicycles, locks, and helmets for our guest use.

Newport News Park: This park is just a few minutes drive from the inn and offers 30 miles of trails. One of the largest municipal parks in the country, its 8,000 acres are home to an incredible variety of native wildlife – deer, foxes, otter, raccoon and beaver, to name a few – all found in a natural setting of lush woodlands, flowering meadows and shimmering lakes.
5000 acres of battlefield are both historically accurate and naturally beautiful.

- Carrot Tree: Very popular cafe in the Riverwalk Landing area. Best carrot cake you'll ever taste! Hours vary seasonally but open for lunch every day.
- Beach Delly : Upscale pizzas and entrees right on the river.
- Yorktown Pub: It's a dive, but it's OUR dive, and we love it!
- Duke of York: A great lunch place and dinner reminiscent of the old Nick's Seafood Pavilion.

Virginia's state boat is the Chesapeake Bay Deadrise, and you can often see one of them from the decks at the Inn going upriver to crab or clam on the York River.
This Deadrise is tied up to its pier in a nearby creek.
