A review from "Chesapeake
Bay Magazine", January 2001 Edition
"Yorktown has a modern motel right on the town
beach. But for a little atmosphere, one of the two B&Bs in town
is vastly preferable. We stayed at the York river Inn, managed by
the extremely hospitable William Cole. Cole has the easy grace of a
native Virginian and he is a fine and dedicated cook. He uses a
blowtorch to brown his crème brulees, and we couldn't come close to doing
justice to the flan, egg and artichoke casserole or clam pudding (he calls
it Clam-Alama-Ding-Dong) he served us for breakfast. Cole has also
decorated his B&B, which is actually ensconced in a modern townhouse
on a bluff overlooking the river, with an impressive and fascinating
collection of period prints and maps related to Virginia during the
Revolutionary War."
